Martell VS (Very Special) is an entry-level cognac from the House of Martell, founded in Cognac, France, in 1715. It is a blend of eaux-de-vie from several key cognac crus including Fins Bois, Borderies, Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne. The youngest spirits in the blend are aged for at least two years in fine oak casks. Martell characterises VS for its smoothness and fruit-forward style, emphasising clean fruit aromas thanks in part to their use of “clear wines” (wines with lees removed) before distillation.

Appearance: Rich golden colour, clear and bright.

Aroma: Plums, apricot, candied lemon, gentle floral hints, and a touch of vanilla from oak.

Palate: Smooth and fresh; pronounced fruit flavours (plum, apricot, peach) with vanilla and mild spice from the oak; clean, easy texture.

Finish: Medium, warm, with lingering fruit sweetness and soft woody undertones.

Serving Suggestions:
Serve neat for sipping, or in cocktails/long drinks (e.g. cognac & ginger ale, cognac & tonic). Works well chilled or on ice with citrus garnish. Also good for mixing in cocktails like Sidecar or Whiskey Sour variants.
