Rutini Encuentro Malbec is a 100% Malbec wine produced in the Tupungato region of Mendoza, Argentina, under the Rutini Wines portfolio. The vineyards are located at relatively high altitude, which gives strong diurnal temperature variation — warm days and cool nights — that helps develop ripe fruit flavours while preserving acidity and freshness. Part of the “Encuentro” line, this Malbec is aged for about 12 months in oak (a combination of French and sometimes American oak), with a mix of new and used barrels, to lend structure and oak spices without overwhelming the pure Malbec character. Alcohol is around 14-14.5%, and the wine is structured enough to age over several years, yet approachable when young.

Tasting Notes:
  •  Appearance: Deep garnet/red-purple colour with violet/hue shifts; rich saturation.
  •  Aroma: Fresh red and black fruits (blackberry, plum, fig), floral violet notes; hints of cocoa and vanilla from the oak; slight roasted or toasted undertones.
  •  Palate: Full-bodied and plush; juicy dark fruit flavours, with some preserved fruit or berry jam; cocoa or bitter chocolate notes; oak-derived vanilla and spice; tannins are firm but fairly smooth.
  •  Finish: Long and rich; lingering dark fruit, oak spice, a bit of minerality or freshness at the end that keeps the finish from being too heavy.
  • ABV: ~ 14-14.5%

Serving Suggestions:
Serve at about 16-18 °C. Decanting for 30 minutes helps soften the tannins and open up the aromas. Pairs excellently with grilled or roasted red meats (especially lamb, beef), dishes with smoky components (barbecue), rich stews, or aged hard cheeses. Also matches well with mushroom dishes or dark chocolate for a dessert pairing.
