Torrero Liqueur is produced by Yuti Breweries Ltd, Namanve, Uganda. It’s a firmly alcoholic liqueur (original version ~42.8% ABV) designed to deliver a strong but sweet-flavored drinking experience. In response to demand for a “softer” variant, Yuti Breweries introduced Torrero Wild, with reduced alcohol content (~37.5% ABV) while retaining much of the characteristic flavour. The base spirit is blended with sugar, caramel, flavouring agents, and uses demineralised water. It has been recognized locally, winning “Best Locally Blended Liqueur” in Uganda’s People’s Choice Quality Awards.
Tasting Notes:

Appearance: Clear amber / golden hue; bright and inviting.

Aroma: Sweet caramel, mild burnt sugar, possibly with a light “energy-drink” style note in sweeter blends; strong alcohol tone for the original.

Palate: Initially sweet, with caramel and sugar character, warming alcohol bite, and a degree of smoothness balanced by the sweetness. The Torrero Wild version is noted to be smoother with less harshness.

Finish: Warm and lingering, with residual sweetness and caramel, some alcohol burn especially in the original strength; the Wild variant trails off more softly.

Serving Suggestions:
- Enjoy neat or over a few ice cubes to slightly temper the alcohol and highlight the caramel sweetness.
- Use in cocktails that benefit from a strong sweet liqueur; for example, in shots, or mixed with cola, ginger beer, or fruit juices to balance the sweetness.
- Can be used as a flavouring agent in desserts (e.g. drizzled over ice cream) thanks to its caramel / sugar character.
- Due to its strength, it’s best consumed in moderation; the weaker “Wild” variant may be more suitable for lighter or more frequent consumption.
