Introduced in 1882 by William Sanderson & Son Ltd. in Leith, Scotland, Vat 69 is a blended Scotch whisky crafted from approximately 40 malt and grain whiskies. The name originates from a selection process where a panel of experts deemed the whisky from vat number 69 to be the best. Notably, it was chosen by Sir Ernest Shackleton for his 1914 Antarctic expedition. Today, it is produced by Diageo and remains a popular choice for its balanced and accessible flavor profile.

Tasting Notes:

Appearance: Light golden amber.
Aroma: Hints of spice and caramel, notes of barley malt, with a soft wheat character. A touch of pear juice.
Palate: Ground almonds and barley malt. Slightly biscuity, more of those pear notes, a little pepper. Sweet, rounded.
Finish: Woody, spiced finish. Caramel.
ABV: 40%
